Privacy policy for the Yo Bro app

Last updated: 17 September 2026

This policy is about the Yo Bro app for iPhone, iPad and Android. The website you are reading is covered by the Savage Software privacy policy.

In short

  • Yo Bro has no account, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking.
  • We receive no personal data from the app. There is no Yo Bro server.
  • Word lists, scores, badges and settings are stored only on your device.

Who we are

Savage Software is the sole proprietorship of Sebastiano Bellinzis, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 87535718. Savage Software makes the app and is the controller for it. You can reach us at [email protected].

What stays on your device

Your word lists, scores, badges and settings are stored only on your device. They are not sent to us or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes them.

Camera and photos

The camera is used only to photograph word lists and to scan list codes. The picture is read on the device, and it is not stored or sent anywhere.

If you pick a picture from your photo library, the app reads only that picture, and it reads it on the device.

Text recognition

On iPhone and iPad, the words are recognised with Apple’s Vision framework, on the device. Nothing leaves the device.

On Android, the words and list codes are recognised with Google’s ML Kit, which runs on the device through Google Play services. The photo and the words are not sent anywhere.

ML Kit itself does send Google diagnostic information, such as the device model, the operating system version, the app’s package name and version, performance and error data, and an identifier for each installation. Google uses it to keep ML Kit working and to improve it. Savage Software does not receive this information. Google explains what is collected in its ML Kit data disclosure.

Battles

In a battle, phones on the same local network connect directly to each other. The words of the list, the answers and the animal each player chooses go only between those phones. Nothing goes over the internet. On iPhone and iPad, the app asks for permission to use the local network for this.

Sharing a list with a QR code

When you share a list with a QR code, the list is inside the code itself. Nothing is uploaded.

Reading words aloud

Words are read aloud by your phone’s built-in text-to-speech. Some voices offered by the phone’s maker may use the internet; that is between you and that provider.

Purchases

Purchases are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details. The app only remembers, on the device, whether the unlock has been bought.

Children

Yo Bro is made for school children, and it collects no personal data from them. Parents can require their approval for purchases in the store’s family settings: Ask to Buy on Apple devices, Family Link on Android.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to show you, correct or delete. For data that Apple or Google process, their own privacy policies apply: the Apple Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.

Questions about privacy? Write to [email protected]. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date.
